Course Description:
 
Through out history, women’s literature has been an unrepresented genre within high school curricula. This class is designed to help both female and male students understand the figurative language that certain author’s use in order to convey societal constraints against women, and how some of these women overcome patriarchal institutions to become strong, independent women.

Course Objective:
 
  • Increase your knowledge regarding women in literature
  • Develop essay skills to prepare you for college coursework
  • Develop internet research skills
  • Increase your knowledge regarding figurative language and rhetorical techniques in literature

Attendance:
 
Although this is an internet based course, in-class attendance is still mandatory for discussion purposes, test and quiz taking, and in addition to use your classmates and myself as additional resources.

Course Requirements:
 
  • Four tests
  • Vocab quizzes every Monday unless otherwise noted
  • Quizzes and short essay responses
  • Two independent readings
  • Two 4-6 page essays
  • One Final 7-9 page paper
  • One final presentation
  • A Recitation
  • Must answer Discussion questions while reading
